Here is what I wanted to happen...

I thought for sure that at some point at the end of their time together- he would do something different so that they could stay together in another time somewhere.

Did anyone else think that would happen?

Also, I never liked Henry. I just wish he was endearing in some way.

Romances with tragic endings are my favorite so I'm glad he died. I agree that Henry's character was lame. The crazy thing is that I've jumped around a couple of different message boards trying to figure out the confusing ending, and everyone seems to think that Henry is just the greatest guy in the world.

I'm just incredibly confused about how he died. He was shot by Clare's brother Mark right? They foreshadowed the event twice and both times, he walked up to Mark and the dad. Then at the end it seemed like he just appeared, Mark saw the movement, and shot him, and then Henry jumped back to the party and died in Clare's arms.

What confused me the most was that when Henry described this even before it actually happened, he was walking around, but when it actually happened, he had no feet. Maybe i'm too stupid to get whats going on here. Please clear this up for me.

I thought this book was extremely boring. It was just a slow paced boy meets girl novel whose events were somewhat out of order because of the time travel element. Nothing interesting ever happened. There was really no story. It finally got a little interesting towards the end when they started to foreshadow his death.

This book has nothing on Somewhere In Time.

I agree. The ending was confusing. I also checked forums to see if I just didn't get it- and even then I didn't.

Also, I was annoyed that he popped back in to die in front of his friends and family- all gross and bloody and wriggling.

Yeah, I didn't love the book. I will admit- I was interested in what was going to happen, but nothing ever did.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was confused. Maybe the movie will make more sense.

Didn't anyone else read the book? I know Judd got about half way and then I told him not to waste any more of his time. I can't figure out why everyone loved this book so much. Amazon named it its book of the year back in 2003 or something like that. Pure garbage.

I will say that one thing that I liked during the later part of the book was seeing snippets briefly mentioned earlier in the book such as the references to the suicide by Ingrid and Gomez telling Clare that he didn't like Henry, played out in full detail. This was somewhat interesting.

Also, I loved what hard core punk rockers Henry and Clare were.

I agree. I feel like the author wanted the readers to know that she used to go to shows. It bugged me.
